I always have a few easy to do crafts handy on Thanksgiving day. I set the supplies and directions up in the den. I keep them simple enough so that the older children can help out the younger ones with little or no adult supervision.
Clip-on Turkey
Construction paper
Pencil
Scissors
Yellow pipe cleaners
Glue
Wiggle eyes
Wooden clothes pin
Make a turkey tail by tracing a child's hand, four fingers, no thumb.
Then design a body shape to glue over top of this.
Glue wiggle eyes, a wattle; attach colorful feathers on top of the 'fingers' on turkeys' backs. Make legs out of yellow pipe cleaners and tape on the back.
Glue a wooden clothespin crosswise on the back.

Halloween Wreath
Any type of ring
Ribbon
Decorations
Glue
Wrap ribbon around ring, leaving large portions of ring showing.
Decorate the ring. Use your imagination. You can buy Halloween ornaments at the store and glue them on, or make some of your own out of construction paper. Your imagination is the only limit!

Autumn Leaf Turkey
Autumn leaves
pinecone
eyes
paper
glue
scissors
Collect autumn leaves and a pinecone.
Glue the leaves onto a piece of paper in a fan shape. Glue the pinecone onto the bottom of the fan.
Make eyes from a scrap piece of paper and markers. Glue them to the pinecone.
Make an orange beak and a red wobbler from construction paper or white paper and markers. Glue them onto the pinecone.
Let dry!
